Building No. 9, Mohammad Ettefagh, Ahmad Ettefagh

Today, urban life has shifted towards living in apartments isolated from nature. These units sacrifice many of the pleasures and qualities of living space for limitations, municipal regulations, and land size.
Building No. 9 is located in the Marzdaran neighborhood near the Poonak stream. It is situated on a 10×38 meter plot and consists of 5 floors of single-unit residential apartments with an area of 214 square meters. Each apartment has 3 master bedrooms, a laundry room, a storage room inside the unit, and a 17 m² terrace that can be furnished. There are also two floors of public space, including the entrance, parking, storage, and utility room.
Traditional brick is used as the primary building material. This is a symbol of authentic Iranian architecture and is compatible with the climate of Tehran. The brickwork is arranged in horizontal and vertical patterns, and traditional Iranian architectural elements such as “Herreh”, “Fakhr & Madin” are used. These elements, along with the use of hardy and evergreen plants and the natural texture of wood, create a warm and intimate environment for the residents. The design includes long and wide terraces with a suitable depth for furniture and movement space. These terraces have separate access to the kitchen and living room, encouraging interaction between family members in a free and pleasant environment. Building No. 9 is an experiment in creating a home that interacts with light and nature. Despite the limitations, it can provide a pleasant living experience for its residents.
