معمار فلسطینی، سعاد امیری، برنده‌ی جایزه‌ی «ذهن‌های بزرگ عرب» ۲۰۲۵ در رشته‌ی معماری و طراحی شد

معمار فلسطینی، سعاد امیری، جایزه‌ی «ذهن‌های بزرگ عرب» سال ۲۰۲۵ را در بخش معماری و طراحی دریافت کرد. امیری، بنیان‌گذار و مدیر مرکز حفاظت معماری ریواق (Riwaq – Centre for Architectural Conservation)، به‌سبب فعالیت‌های بلندمدت خود در مستندسازی، حفاظت و بازکاربری میراث معماری فلسطین از طریق رویکردهای حفاظتی‌ای که ساختارهای تاریخی را به نیازهای معاصر جوامع پیوند می‌دهند، مورد تقدیر قرار گرفت. رویکرد او معماری را هم‌زمان به‌مثابه‌ی مخزن حافظه‌ی جمعی و چارچوبی فعال برای زندگی اجتماعی در نظر می‌گیرد و بر نقش میراث در زندگی روزمره‌ی شهری و روستایی تأکید دارد. مرکز حفاظت معماری ریواق که در سال ۱۹۹۱ تأسیس شد، به‌عنوان بستر اصلی فعالیت‌های معماری و حفاظتی امیری عمل کرده است. او از طریق این نهاد، یکی از گسترده‌ترین طرح‌های مستندسازی معماری در فلسطین را رهبری کرده که حاصل آن ایجاد فهرستی شامل بیش از ۵۰ هزار بنای تاریخی در شهرها و روستاها بوده است. این فعالیت‌ها از احیای حدود ۵۰ مرکز تاریخی پشتیبانی کرده و با تلفیق پروژه‌های مرمتی با ایجاد اشتغال و برنامه‌های آموزشی برای استادکارانی که با مصالح سنتی کار می‌کنند، جوامع محلی را به‌طور مستقیم در نوسازی محیط‌های ساخته‌شده‌ی خود درگیر کرده است. پروژه‌های اخیر ریواق نیز بازتاب‌دهنده‌ی همین رویکرد هستند. پروژه‌ی «قلندیا: هزارتوی سبز تاریخی» که جایزه‌ی بزرگ هولسیم ۲۰۲۵ را دریافت کرد، با به‌کارگیری راهبردی تدریجی در حفاظت، به باززنده‌سازی مرکز تاریخی روستای قلندیا می‌پردازد. در این پروژه، سازه‌های فرسوده برای استفاده‌ی عمومی احیا می‌شوند؛ با تکیه بر سنگ‌چینی سنتی، مصالح بومی و سامانه‌های غیرفعال سازگار با اقلیم، و در عین حال، مشارکت جامعه و نگه‌داری بلندمدت در اولویت قرار می‌گیرد. پروژه‌ی پیشین «باززنده‌سازی مرکز تاریخی بیرزیت» که در سال ۲۰۱۳ جایزه‌ی آقاخان برای معماری را دریافت کرد، به‌طور مشابه بر احیای بناهای تاریخی و فضاهای عمومی از طریق فرایندهای مشارکتی تمرکز داشت و در جایی که شواهد تاریخی محدود بود، تکنیک‌های سنتی را با مداخلات معاصر تلفیق می‌کرد. در کنار فعالیت‌های حفاظتی، امیری پژوهش‌های گسترده‌ای درباره‌ی معماری سنتی فلسطین ارائه کرده است. مطالعات او بر بناهای مسکونی و شیوه‌های ساخت آن‌ها متمرکز است؛ از جمله سنگ‌چینی، سیستم‌های کف‌سازی، عناصر تزیینی و سازمان‌دهی فضایی. این انتشارات، ضمن حفظ دانشی که در سنت‌های بومی ساخت‌وساز نهفته است، به فهم آکادمیک معماری بومی کمک می‌کنند. هم‌زمان، نوشته‌های او با تلفیق مشاهده‌ی معماری، مستندسازی تاریخی و روایت شخصی، گفت‌وگوی فرهنگی پیرامون فضا، حافظه و تجربه‌ی زیسته در فلسطین را گسترش می‌دهند. امیری دارای مدرک کارشناسی معماری از دانشگاه امریکایی بیروت، کارشناسی ارشد برنامه‌ریزی شهری از دانشگاه میشیگان، آن‌آربر، و دکترای معماری از دانشگاه ادینبرو است. او معماری و مطالعات شهری را در دانشگاه بیرزیت و دانشگاه اردن تدریس کرده است. این خبر با قدردانی شیخ محمد بن راشد آل مکتوم، معاون رییس‌جمهور و نخست‌وزیر امارات متحده‌ی عربی و حاکم دبی، همراه بود که بر نقش امیری در حفاظت از میراث معماری فلسطین تأکید کرد. ابتکار «ذهن‌های بزرگ عرب» که به ابتکار شیخ محمد بن راشد آل مکتوم راه‌اندازی شده است، از افرادی تقدیر می‌کند که آثارشان سهمی پایدار در فرهنگ، دانش و جامعه‌ی عربی داشته است؛ در حوزه‌هایی چون معماری و طراحی، پزشکی، مهندسی و فناوری، علوم طبیعی، ادبیات و هنر، و اقتصاد. برندگان پیشین بخش معماری و طراحی شامل لینا غطمه در سال ۲۰۲۳ و ساحل الحیاری در سال ۲۰۲۴ بوده‌اند و بدین‌ترتیب، سعاد امیری در کنار گروهی رو‌به‌گسترش از چهره‌های منطقه‌ای قرار می‌گیرد که به‌سبب تأثیرگذاری بر محیط ساخته‌شده مورد تقدیر قرار گرفته‌اند. در خبری مرتبط، معمار مصری عبدالواحد الوکیل به‌عنوان برنده‌ی جایزه‌ی دستاورد یک‌عمر تمایوز ۲۰۲۵ معرفی شد. این خبر در جریان مراسم جایزه‌ی تمایوز برای تعالی در بغداد و در چارچوب نخستین جشنواره‌ی معماری عرب اعلام شد. همچنین مؤسسه‌ی معماران امریکا (AIA) اعلام کرد که معمار شیگرو بان مدال طلای AIA در سال ۲۰۲۶ را دریافت کرده است. جوایز EUmies 2026 نیز فهرست ۴۱۰ اثر نامزد‌شده را منتشر کرده‌اند؛ هیأت داوران این دوره به ریاست اسمیلجان رادیچ فعالیت می‌کند و پروژه‌هایی از سراسر اروپا را در نوزدهمین دوره‌ی این جایزه گرد هم آورده است.

Palestinian architect Suad Amiry has been awarded the 2025 Great Arab Minds Award in the Architecture and Design category. Founder and director of the Riwaq – Centre for Architectural Conservation, Amiry was recognised for her long-standing work in documenting, preserving, and reusing Palestinian architectural heritage through conservation practices that link historic structures with contemporary community needs. Her approach positions architecture as both a repository of collective memory and an active social framework, emphasising the role of heritage in everyday urban and rural life. Established in 1991, Riwaq – Centre for Architectural Conservation has served as the primary platform for Amiry’s architectural and conservation practice. Through the organisation, she has led one of Palestine’s most extensive architectural documentation initiatives, resulting in a registry of more than 50,000 historic buildings across towns and villages. This work has supported the rehabilitation of approximately 50 historic centres, combining restoration projects with job creation and training programs for craftsmen working with traditional materials, while directly engaging local communities in the renewal of their built environments. Recent projects led by Riwaq further reflect this approach. Qalandiya: the Green Historic Maze, which received the Grand Prize at the Holcim Awards 2025, applies an incremental conservation strategy to the revitalisation of Qalandiya’s historic village centre, restoring deteriorated structures for public use through traditional stone masonry, native materials, and passive climate-responsive systems, while prioritising community participation and long-term maintenance. An earlier project, the Revitalisation of Birzeit Historic Centre, awarded the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2013, similarly focused on rehabilitating historic buildings and public spaces through collaborative processes, combining traditional techniques with contemporary interventions where historical evidence was limited. Alongside her conservation practice, Amiry has contributed extensive research on traditional Palestinian architecture. Her studies focus on domestic buildings and their construction techniques, including stone masonry, flooring systems, decorative elements, and spatial organisation. These publications contribute to the academic understanding of vernacular architecture while preserving knowledge embedded in local building traditions. In parallel, her writing combines architectural observation with historical documentation and personal narrative, expanding cultural discourse around space, memory, and lived experience in Palestine. Amiry holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the American University of Beirut, a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a PhD in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh. She has taught architecture and urban studies at Birzeit University and the University of Jordan. The announcement was acknowledged by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, who highlighted Amiry’s role in preserving Palestinian architectural heritage. Launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Great Arab Minds initiative recognises individuals whose work has made a lasting contribution to Arab culture, scholarship, and society across disciplines, including Architecture and Design, Medicine, Engineering and Technology, Natural Sciences, Literature and Arts, and Economics. Previous recipients of the Architecture and Design category include Lina Ghotmeh in 2023 and Sahel Al-Hiyari in 2024, placing Suad Amiry among a growing group of regional figures recognised for their impact on the built environment. In related news, Egyptian architect Abdelwahed El-Wakil has been named the recipient of the 2025 Tamayouz Lifetime Achievement Award, announced during the Tamayouz Excellence Award Ceremony in Baghdad as part of the inaugural Arab Architecture Festival. Elsewhere, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) announced that architect Shigeru Ban received the 2026 AIA Gold Medal. The EUmies Awards 2026 have also unveiled 410 nominated works, with the jury chaired by Smiljan Radić, bringing together projects from across Europe as part of the prize’s 19th cycle.
