پناهگاه‌های کیسه شنی اثر نادر خلیلی

نادر خلیلی، معمار ایرانی است که در ایران، ترکیه و آمریکا آموزش دیده است. او حدود پنج سال در ایران به کار معماری پرداخت و پس از آن وارد حوزه تحقیق در زمینه ساخت و ساز با خاک شد و در آمریکا در سازمان ملل متحد (UNIDO) و ناسا (NASA) فعالیت کرد و نهایتا مؤسسه هنر و معماری زمین کالیفرنیا (Cal-Earth) را در هسپریا (Hesperia) تأسیس کرد. سوپر ادوب (Superadobe) ایده‌ای هست که توسط نادر خلیلی مطرح شد و برای ایجاد زیستگاه در ماه و مریخ به ناسا ارائه شد که نتایج آن در کتابی با عنوان Sandbag Shelters & Eco-Village منتشر شده است.

نادر خلیلی در طراحی مسکن اضطراری برای پناهندگان اهواز از ایده پناهگاه‌های کیسه شنی (Sandbag Shelters) استفاده کرد که برنده جایزه آقاخان شد. این پناهگاه‌ها به مساحت 2200 متر مربع، خانه‌های قوسی‌شکلی بودند که از مصالح جنگی ساخته شده بودند به این صورت که کیسه‌های شن با خاک در محل پر، به صورت لایه‌ای چیده و با رشته‌های سیم  به هم متصل می‌شدند. این روش ساده، ارزان، سازگار با محیط زیست و از نظر ظاهری ساده اما مستحکم است.

Sandbag Shelters

Nader Khalili (b. 1937, Iran) trained as an architect in Iran, Turkey and the United States. From 1970 to 1975, he practised architecture in Iran, and has since dedicated himself to research into building with earth. He has served as a consultant to the United Nations (UNIDO) and a contributor to NASA. Mr. Khalili founded the California Institute of Earth Art and Architecture (Cal-Earth) in Hesperia, US, and teaches architectural research at Sci Arc. He has received awards from organizations such as the California chapter of the American Institute of Architects, for ‘Excellence in Technology’; the United Nations and HUD (US Department of Housing and Urban Development), for ‘Shelter for the Homeless’; and the American Society of Civil Engineers (Aerospace Division), for his work in lunar-base-building

technology. He is the author of five published books, including two translations of the work of the thirteenth-century Sufi poet, Jalal-e-Din Mohammad Rumi.

Emergency housing for refugees, sponsored by UN agencies and designed by an architect at the Cal-Earth Institute. The arch-shaped adobe houses are seismically safe, impervious to weather conditions, and built using war materials. Sandbags are filled with on-site earth, arranged in layers and lined with strands of barbed wire to act as mortar. Stabilizers like cement, lime and asphalt emulsion are added to the structures, which are fired”, turning the mud into a ceramic-like material. Ì_They measure 14 square metres each and, significantly, cost only $4 to construct.”
